There is separation at bottom as pictured. it is a issue with the shoe on general (pay close attention when buying any shoes of this model). I have two pair, one black and one grey, and they are both like this new. For the grey pair I gorilla glued them and they held up all winter. The black ones I just peeled it off and I wore them like that all winter and they are holding up fine
