Hardcover. No writing tears or marks in book. DVD plays as expected. There was a sticker on the plastic DVD case that left residue that stuck to the pink cover page when the book was closed, leaving a small mark. Pic of the tv screen of the dvd are shown in the last 2 pics. The dvd is classical music with dancers showing some of the lessons covered in the book. The illustrations in the book are #colorful and full of information. Unfortunately we are more of a soccer player than a #ballet dancer, at least right now!
