To begin, I am an overachiever and a perfectionist: I want everything I do to be successful. I am a mama to two little ladies who are the air I breathe; without them, I wouldn’t survive. I have always been an independent, working individual—even before their arrival.

Being a SAHM, I still yearned to contribute financially to my children’s future. Since going back to work was not an option, I started researching ways to earn an income by working from home and still taking care of my children. I started selling children’s clothes online in the fall of 2015 and all proceedings were saved for them. In the past three years, I invested heavily on tools to become a more accomplished entrepreneur.

One thing that I learned was the importance of making my items stand out among thousands of other items out there in this massive and competitive marketplace. As the saying goes, “You never get a second chance to make a first impression,” and this is 100% true in business.

Having said that, presentation is everything and one way to do that is to have my pictures “pop out” and grab the buyer’s attention like bees to honey. I tried many editing methods but none brought me absolute satisfaction. Then I came across a free app called Magic Eraser a year ago that allowed me to erase the background. The result: A crisp white background that requires me to wear sunglasses when looking at them.

After trials and many more attempts that followed, I believe for 3-4 months to be accurate, Magic Eraser became the ultimate editing tool for my selling business. The logic as to why I depended on this editing tool is quite simple but critical: It is free but it brings me absolute control. I edit all of my hero images at least two times prior to listing them. PicTapGo and my phone are secondary editing tools when I am still 99% satisfied with my pictures.

As an entrepreneur, all of my items, prior to being put out in the marketplace, are placed under an indivisible microscope to be scrutinized. I meticulously study all pictures to make sure they are clean, presentable, and eye-catching. In addition, I constantly question myself: Will it grab the buyer’s attention immediately? Do I want to buy it myself?  If I spot a flaw, regardless of how trivial it is, I immediately clean it up. I view myself as a serious and passionate business woman. Through the years, I have come to realize ups and downs in the art of selling. But I am one heck of a resilient business woman who consistently stands tall in the midst of any storm.
